Burnt Ranch Gorge ClassV (experienced paddlers only) California's best summertime Class 5 run. This stretch of the Trinity cuts through an etnticing, formidable, sheer walled gorge called Burnt Ranch. Blocked by a maze of boulders, there are countless falls, holes, and choked shutes to negotiate. Participants must be experienced, physically fit, and ready for a powerful whitewater trip. Long considered unrunnable due to countless falls and violent rapids boasting 8 - 10' chutes and drops, the first raft decent in 1982 paved the way for commercial trips down this challenging stretch of whitewater. Warning: Not recommended for inexperienced rafters. All participants must be experienced paddlers,competent swimmers, and in good physical condition. Due to the extreme difficulty of this run, all participants will be required to pass the ClassV paddlers test. Guided trips on the exciting Burnt Rance Gorge section of the Trinity River are available at $175 for the one day trip, and a two day trip is available for $295. 1 Day Burnt Ranch Gorge Adventure We will meet, prepare for our voyage, and take a short ride to the put-in. Lifejackets will be fitted and a river& safety and equipment lesson will be& given. Due to the extreme difficulty of this run, all participants will be required to pass ClassV paddlers test. After this orientation we will board the rafts and head out for a day of some serious whitewater action. Be prepared to experience dangerous drops, unstable eddies, irregular currents and horrendous holes as we take on such rapids such as " China Slide", "Pearly Gates","Tight Squeeze", "Jaws", and " Rude Awakening". We will feast on a hearty lunch at a sandy riverside beach and continue downstream for more non-stop ClassIV and V action in the final stretch of challenging whitewater. When we reach take-out, ice cold drinks will be waiting and you will be returned to your vehicles at the end of the day. 2 Day Burnt Ranch Gorge Adventure On a two day trip, we will take out at Middle Burnt Ranch Falls and hike to Burnt Ranch Campground-or shuttle to alternative campgrounds in the area. In camp the guides will set up kitchen and begin preparing a decadent meal. While in camp you ;can choose your sleeping site, fish, swim, play or just relax. The evening meal will be followed by dessert, campfire entertainment, and a peaceful nights sleep under the stars. In the morning the wonderful smell of coffee and breakfast will greet your senses. We will re-pack our gear and get ready for another exciting day on the river. This day includes the best of extreme white water with class rapids such as "Lower Falls", "Origami", "Table Rock"and " Gray's Fall".
